(NR-73表也没填) -windsor1912(day_trader) 2008-4-6
It's not that simple. 183 days rule is to decide your status as resident or non-resident of Canada. There are many other rules you need to look at to determin if you need to file tax.
For example, if you have to pay tax for 2007, if you sell taxable Canadian property in 2007, if you have to contribute CPP, etc. Get a tax guide for non-resident from CRA helps a lot if you want to handle this by yourself. I have a question need your help too. If I reside in Windsor and work in Detroit like you did before, do I need a TN visa? What are pros and cons as opposed to live in Detroit? -xjurum(要塞玫瑰) 2008-4-6
I read the emigrant guide and it looks like that I have to file tax.
Will look more in detail. I did sell the property with a loss, guess I can claim that. I was on H-1 visa before, but I know you can do it with TN visa. Not sure about your situation. For us, living in Windsor is to maintain Canadian resident status for citizenship. bordering crossing might be very bad sometimes. if you have canadian citizenship, it's better to live in US side,. find some better places near detroit, like troy. rochester hill. -windsor1912(day_trader) 2008-4-7
TN L1 H1 is free for living location; US green card need to live in US for the limitation. The temperay overall cost is low if you live in US.
That includes rent, living, tax, trans, gas and med insurance. But if you consider the future benefit, you need reconsider the relocation. -lzalf(火炎焱@蓝色深水区) 2008-4-9
Thank you both for help. I also wanted to buy a used car. Is it cheaper to buy a car in Detroit than in Canada?
-xjurum(要塞玫瑰) 2008-4-9
depends, but US new car is cheaper

公司在michigan,但在加拿大家工作一年去了一次公司。可以免税,或节税吗?,所有税已经从paycheck中扣除了。本人有michigan住址(朋友家),也有michigandriverlicence,SSN。

Don't understand your situation. What is your working status in US? What filing status are you going to use in tax return?
