Just want to share the experience for renewing Chinese passport in Toronto. Hope that this will be helpful to whoever has this plan. My mom got visit visa. When she arrived in Toronto on June 1st., the officer only issue 6 months stay. As her passport will expire in March 2011, we decide to apply for new passport first (no passport extension in Toronto any more). My friend's mom has smiliar situation and her new passport application was rejected. Therefore, we had some preparation, bring the airticket (depart in May 2010) and travel proposal in December (we plan to have overseas tour package in Dec). The officer in Chinse Consulate first say no and later agree to issue a new passport after review all documents we prepared. Just a reminder! Please make sure your parents renew or get a new passport before visiting Toronto.
