Once I met a Canadian girl in a hostel in Mexico. She was a forest firefighter in Northern Ontario.

She told me that there were lots of fires caused by lighternings. Most of them were not put off by humans. They are natural things, therefore there is no need to interfere.

However, if, and only if, the fires threaten settlements, the firefighters would go to put them off.
